The Peabody Essex Museum invited leading furniture makers from North America and China to the museum to look at and to talk together about historical Chinese furniture and to share their experiences with one another. This interaction provided an international connection for contemporary practitioners and resulted in works that have furthered possibilities for furniture and creativity in China and North America. The new pieces of furniture produced are creative expressions based on traditional Chinese furniture.
