Product Description
Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, pairs uncomplicated seasonal floral materials with a simple vessel to create a thoughtful arrangement. Ikebana is often displayed in a home's tokonoma, an alcove where seasonal flowers and scrolls are displayed for contemplation. Potters in Georgetown, Maine, craft these shallow porcelain vessels by hand with a sweeping glazed wave pattern. A frog pin secured to the bottom of the offset opening pierces each stem, helping keep flowers upright and fresh for up to three weeks. For inspiration, visit the tokonoma in PEM's Japanese art gallery where a new ikebana arrangement is displayed each season.
